By: Batuhan Duman

Tom Jewell (August 22, 1952), Professor of Communication at Bergen Community College, passed away on August 21, 2023, just a day shy of his 71st birthday. He is survived by his loving wife Leah, sons Rob and Calder, and daughter Dagny, and grandchildren Bode and Fin. Serving as Interim Dean of Virtual Studies, and later as Acting Vice President for Academic Services, briefly, as well as teaching as Professor of Communication, he had dedicated the last 22 years of his life to Bergen CC. He cultivated a tight relationship among the communication faculty members.”It was clear to everyone Tom Jewell had two passions in life: Student Learning and his Family! He is a role model to us all and will be remembered for a long time,” said his friend and colleague Prof. Michael Echols.  He will be sorely missed by all at Bergen CC and everybody whose lives he touched.
